Flexner, Abraham
(13 nov. 1866, Louisville, Ky., EE.UU.–21 sep. 1959, Falls Church, Va.).

Educador estadounidense. Fue docente en escuelas secundarias durante casi 20 años, hasta que la Fundación Carnegie le pidió evaluar las 155 escuelas de medicina de EE.UU. y Canadá. Su informe (1910) causó gran revuelo; cerraron muchas escuelas que criticó severamente, otras revisaron su estructura normativa y curricular. A partir de entonces, Flexner canalizó casi 500 millones de dólares de la Fundación Rockefeller a mejorar la enseñanza médica estadounidense. En 1930 fundó el Instituto para Estudios Avanzados en Princeton, N.J., que reclutó a algunos de los científicos más destacados del mundo.
